WSOP Main Event Draws 8,077 and Climbing, $75M+ on the Line

The $10,000 World Championship is underway at Horseshoe and Paris, and the numbers are already enormous: 8,077 entries through the four Day 1 flights, a prize pool north of $75 million, and late registration still open into Day 2. Sunday's Day 1D was the biggest starting flight of the week at 4,694 players. Last year's Main finished at 9,735, so with Day 2 entries still to come, another 9,000-plus field is well within reach. The winner is crowned at the ESPN final table, August 3 through 5.

The 2026 WSOP Is Running at Record Pace

With the Main Event still playing out, the series has already awarded 84 of its 100 bracelets across 85 events, drawing a combined 202,385 entries. The 57th World Series wraps July 15, and it is on track for another record year of total participation. If you have ever wanted to say you played a bracelet event, the back half of the schedule and a wave of online qualifiers are still open.

Q: In a multi-flight event, does it matter which Day 1 I play?

Less than most people assume. On the big multi-flights, the numbers show median starting stacks vary only about 10 percent from flight to flight, so there is no real chip-accumulation edge to any single day. Two small but real effects remain: larger flights, usually the weekend and evening ones, tend to advance a slightly higher percentage of players, while the earliest weekday flight often skews pro-heavy because the regulars are already in town, making it a touch tougher. The practical takeaway from the people who have studied it: pick your flight by logistics and comfort, not theory. Whichever you play, the goal is the same, bag a healthy stack, because that is the only thing that actually carries into Day 2.
