A 22-Year-Old Is the World Champion
Lucas Jumalon went wire to wire at the final table to win the 2026 WSOP Main Event for $10,000,000. At 22 years, four months and 27 days old, he is the second-youngest Main Event champion in history, behind only Joe Cada in 2009. He entered the final table with the chip lead, never gave it up, and closed it out Wednesday night against Finland's Lauri Saaskilahti, who took home $6,000,000 for second.
The field was 9,208 players. The recent college graduate beat every last one of them, including the bracelet winners Greg Mueller ($3,750,000 for third) and Michael Gagliano ($2,750,000 for fourth). One footnote for the history books: after a 15-minute tank on Day 6, the WSOP added a shot clock on Day 7 for the first time in the event's 57-year history, then thought better of it and removed it for the final table.

Florida's Biggest Prize Pool Gets Decided Today
The Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open Championship, a $3,000,000 guarantee at a $5,300 buy-in, plays its final day today, Monday August 10, in Hollywood. And the room is not slowing down: the $25,500 High Roller with a $1,000,000 guarantee starts today too, playing into Tuesday.

Prize money awarded by the Venetian DeepStack Championship across 121 events from May 21 through August 2, against more than $16 million in guarantees, with 28,595 entries and $233,375 in honored overlays. The next DeepStack series starts September 1.

Palm Beach Kennel Club's $100,000 Monster Multi-Flight ended in a rarity: Alfredo Rodriguez and Gregory Mason reached the six-way deal with identical chip counts, split the top two spots evenly, and were crowned co-champions at $15,612 each.

Worth Knowing
- Jason Koon is the 2026 Poker Hall of Fame class, all of it. Inducted on his first nomination in his first year of eligibility, with $77 million in lifetime tournament winnings and two bracelets. The WSOP just changed the rules to allow multiple inductees per year, and nobody else cleared the bar.
- The bracelets move online next. The 2026 WSOP Online runs August 16 through September 29 on GGPoker with 33 bracelets, headlined by a $5 million guaranteed $500 Mini Main Event and a $5 million Millionaire Maker with $1 million locked for the winner.
- Atlantic City wakes up Thursday. The WSOP Circuit opens at Harrah's Atlantic City on August 13 with a $400 Mini Main Event for $300,000 guaranteed, building to the $1,700 Main Event for $600,000. All 41 ring events are on the site with the official structures.
