The Final 9 Is Locked, and a 22-Year-Old Runs the Show
Day 8 took the Main Event from 21 players down to its official final table, and one man ran away with it. Lucas Jumalon, just 22, climbed from third in chips to a commanding lead and personally ended overnight leader Malcolm Trayner's run, busting him in 10th when Trayner's two pair got counterfeited on the river. Jumalon bagged a massive 194,000,000. The star names could not keep pace: reigning Player of the Year Shaun Deeb fell in 15th and 2019 world champion Hossein Ensan went out in 13th, both shy of the final nine. Under this year's ESPN deal the final table does not play again until August 3, so these nine now bank their guaranteed money and wait out the summer.

What to Watch
Nothing new plays until August 3, when the final nine return to Las Vegas for the three-day televised finale on ESPN. Jumalon carries a huge edge, but Rami Hammoud, Jamie Shaevel, and veteran Greg Mueller all have the chips to chase him down for the $10,000,000 and the world championship bracelet.
