The Guarantee Never Had a Chance
Robert Gianquitti won the WSOP Circuit Main Event at Harrah's Pompano Beach on October 12, beating a field of 1,011 entries in the $1,700 for $248,632 and his first Circuit ring. The room's $1,000,000 guarantee was beaten by more than $531,000.
Gianquitti is a South Florida resident and a commercial painting sales representative, and this was his largest score in more than sixteen years of playing. His previous best was seventh in the 2022 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open for $154,185. One hundred and four players cashed; seven came back for the final day, and he started it as the short stack.
Pompano Goes Again on Thursday
Nine days after the Circuit packed up, the room opens another one. The October Weekend Warrior runs six starting flights from Thursday October 22 to Saturday the 24th, a $400 buy in for $200,000 guaranteed, with everyone who bags converging on a single Day 2 at noon on Sunday.
You get 30,000 chips. The late flights at 5 PM run 25 minute levels against 30 in the morning, so the morning is the better structure and the evening is the cheaper second bullet. Day 2 plays 40 minute levels.
Four $200,000 Tournaments in Six Days
The Weekend Warrior is not even alone. Between Wednesday and the following Monday, four separate $200,000 guarantees open across two states, and a fifth follows days later.
Borgata starts first, with the Pure Grind Black Chip Bounty on Wednesday: $350, eight flights through Saturday, Day 2 on the 25th. On Thursday three open at once, Wynn's Fall Classic at $400 in Las Vegas, the RunGood Poker Series Event #3 at $400 at bestbet Jacksonville, and Pompano's Weekend Warrior. Then Casino Dania Beach closes its Fall Classic on the 26th with a $500 buy in and nine flights.
Four of the five cost $500 or less to enter. That is the part worth noticing: the guarantee has become the thing rooms compete on, and the buy in is where they compete for you.

Worth Knowing
- The Venetian has put $2,000,000 on a single tournament. The $5,000 WPT Fall Championship plays Day 1s on November 5, 6 and 7, then runs four days to a final table on the 10th. You start with 50,000 chips and 60 minute levels, going to 90 for the last two days, which is the deepest structure anyone is offering this fall. The festival around it opens this month: a $1,100 for $500,000 begins October 29, and a $600 for $300,000 follows on November 12.
- GGPoker has banned HUDs and all third party software. The policy covers heads up displays and tools that collate hand histories, naming Jurojin, Holdem Manager 3 and Poker Tracker 4. The operator says it is tightening the rules to reduce the risk of another incident after the recent superuser scandal. It is not aimed at HUDs alone, which is the part most coverage is missing: the ban is on the category.
- Borgata's Fall Poker Open carries over $4 million. November 4 to 17, and two separate events guarantee $1,000,000: a $600 Kick Off opening the series and the $2,700 Championship closing it over five days. The $350 Mini-Main guarantees $500,000 across seventeen Day 1 flights, which may be the most starting flights any single event has offered this year.
